We are excited to announce that GLOW is officially a GO with this year's enchanting theme, GLOW GARDEN.
We invite you to join us in celebrating our community by building lanterns that truly reflect our shared growth together. Each lantern will be prominently displayed in our Gallery, gradually cultivating a beautiful garden of creativity that will ultimately culminate in a vibrant parade on the Spring Equinox. As the evening unfolds, lanterns will be ceremoniously pulled from their displays, symbolizing the bountiful harvest of our collective efforts. Participants will be delighted to know that they will have the opportunity to take their unique lanterns home with them at the end of the night, transforming this event into a personal keepsake of our meaningful shared experience. Let us all come together to illuminate the beauty of our community and nurture the incredible creativity that thrives within it.

Dwennimmen
Shima Aisha Robinson - an amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton) born student, community builder, poet and spoken word artist who embodies, with every literary and scholarly effort, the ancient meaning of her chosen pen name. Dwennimmen is the name of an ancient African Adinkra symbol, which means strength, humility, learning and wisdom. It is no surprise, then, that this veteran of the Alberta poetry community uses a searing intellect and dynamic precision-of-language to create poetry which ushers her readers and listeners toward greater understanding and poignant reflection. For Shima Aisha Robinson aka, poetry has long been a compass, a salve, an anchor and guiding light. She uses the potential and force of poetry to uncover the full range of her cerebral, linguistic and spiritual fortitude. This is why her every poem and performance testifies to an emerging power and wisdom, an authentic, deeply human potency which she hopes To pass on to listeners and poetry-lovers around the world. She is the author of two books including HORN, 2016, Denseverse (self published), and Bellow, 2022, Glass House Press. Shima is also the 10th Edmonton Poet Laureate. @dwennimmen

In Memory Of
In loving memory of Darren Radbourne, a cherished friend and valued member of the CO*LAB team. Darren was a steadfast supporter and a powerful voice for his community. His presence was felt deeply during the conception of GLOW, and his absence remains palpable each year since his passing.
To honor his memory and the light he brought to our community, we continue to showcase his owl lantern along our parade routes. This lantern serves as a lasting tribute to Darren's spirit, illuminating the path for others just as he did in life. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew him and in the vibrant community he helped to shape.
